Zygomatic implants,
when bone has run out.

For patients told they are not candidates for conventional upper-jaw implants because of severe bone loss — often after years of denture wear, advanced periodontitis, or failed previous implants — zygomatic implants are a specialist alternative. Anchored in the cheekbone rather than the upper jaw, they enable full-arch fixed prostheses without major bone grafting.

Who this is for

A narrow indication. Precisely defined.

Zygomatic implants are appropriate for a specific clinical picture: severe atrophy of the upper jaw where conventional implants are impossible even with grafting, and where the patient wants to avoid the staged bone-augmentation route. This is a last-resort specialist procedure — not a shortcut.

We do not place zygomatic implants speculatively. If your case is a candidate for conventional implants with moderate bone augmentation, that is what we will recommend. If you have been quoted zygomatic implants by another clinic and your CBCT does not unequivocally justify them, we will tell you.

What this procedure involves

Four clinical points worth knowing.

01

General anaesthesia or sedation

This is not a dental-chair procedure. It is performed in a hospital environment with an anaesthesia team and supporting ICU availability.

02

Same-day prosthesis

A fixed temporary bridge is fitted onto the zygomatic implants in the same session. You leave the hospital with fixed teeth.

03

Survival data

Published literature reports 10-year survival rates above 95% for zygomatic implants placed following standard protocols. Higher than many would expect.

04
◆ Material tiers

Not for everyone

Excluded: active sinus disease, uncontrolled diabetes, recent head-and-neck radiotherapy, severe untreated periodontal disease.

Upload your existing CBCT. We will tell you — honestly — whether zygomatic is indicated.

◆ Aftercare · what happens when you fly home

Your treatment does not end at the airport.

Every patient leaves GC Clinic with a written warranty, a complete records pack in PDF for any UK dentist, and a structured WhatsApp follow-up schedule (24h · 72h · 1 week · 1 month · 3 months · 6 months · 12 months). Annual video review with Dr. Öztürk is standard. If a covered complication occurs in the warranty period, our “we fly you back” clause — written in your treatment agreement, not a marketing phrase — covers the return flight, hotel and corrective treatment.

◆ Aftercare · what happens when you fly home

Your immediate-load provisional and the definitive full-arch prosthesis on zygomatic implants are produced in our in-house lab, designed against the implant emergence and your facial reference. Adjustments stay in the same building.
